Passionate About Inspiring Others
I have always been passionate about teaching and inspiring others. It has been in my nature to see the good in all things, specifically in people. I think a lot of who I am today has been cultivated by my childhood. My mother passed away when I was 3 years old; this has created a deep compassion towards children and always wanting them to see, feel and know the beauty that they have inside of them. I remember vividly what it felt like to feel shame and pain and how these stories started to build into things that needed to be healed and unraveled as an adult. I also remember what it felt like to be a child that was just yearning to be LOVED, yearning to be seen, yearning to fit in and to feel a part of this World.
The greatest gift that was given to me as a child was the gift of dance. Dance gave me an outlet to forget about the outside world and to feel FREE in my body. Dance made me feel capable of becoming and achieving anything that I wanted. It helped me to feel good about myself. It challenged me. It gave me focus. It gave me purpose.
At the age of 12, I became an assistant teacher and at 16, my dance teacher believed in me enough that she created an outlet for me to teach. I began teaching at the Cincinnati Public Schools as the director and teacher of their after-
school programs. This was the first time that I witnessed the power of dance and how it can influence the lives of others. I experienced how this can be a great tool to help enhance a child's worth, self-esteem and self-confidence. I saw, by working in these inner city schools, that dance was offering a space for these kids to feel Free, Loved, Capable and Worthy. At this moment, my Life Purpose made it's introduction to me.
After graduation, I moved to Colorado in search of my passion and exploring the world. I soon found myself a student again and jumped into learning all I could about tap and hip-hop dance. I wanted to move to Los Angeles or New York and
try my hand as a professional dancer, but the Universe had other plans for me; It was time to teach again.
Now, 19 years later, I am called again to teach, but in a different way. I am called to tap back into that original knowing; my passion for wanting to help people to see the beauty of who and the magic that life has in store for them. To create space for others and to see their potential and possibilities, especially through the powerful tool of dance.
It is a blessing I will never be able to put into words. I get to help others feel worthy, loved, valued and a part of this world.
With my experience as a dancer, a studio owner, choreographer, dance mom, life coach and a woman on my own spiritual path, I can meet others with a greater sense of empathy and compassion, because I understand -- I have been there. I also know that this life is hard, that it is easy to get off-track, that success doesn't always equal happiness and an abundance of clients doesn't always mean quality of purpose. I can share my stories of what it felt like to be in a competitive dance world and how it started to change my spirit, both positively and negatively. And my intention is to help others stay their course, to create from more Spirit and less Ego and to hold space for others to do the same.
At this stage of my life, I am passionate about creating a space for people to unravel their old stories and limiting belief systems in order to align deeper to the truth of who they are and their purpose and to empower them to be the CEO of their own life. I believe that Dance and Movement is a powerful tool to connect to one another, but more importantly to connect to the messages of the Spirit. I believe in creating a space for young dancers to feel safe, empowered, nurtured and encouraged to find their own unique voice.
We all deserve to dance to the beat of our own drum.
All my LOVE,
At 19 years old, I was resistant to teaching at a "big" dance studio. I knew nothing about competitive dance, jazz dance or anything about a "real" dance school. Teaching in such a facility was a drastic shift from my dance teacher's basement studio. I immediately felt the judgement, heard the complaints from studio parents, felt the drama, and I was not at all interested in teaching at a dance studio; however, I was broke, and I needed money -- the Universe provided.
I soon began teaching dance full time and eventually opened my own studio with a partner. I was young and ignorance was bliss. I saw this as a great opportunity to teach, connect, inspire and create again. There were no rules, and again, I really did not know much about the competition world so everything that was created was done authentically. And it was FUN.
